Context and decisions stay attached to the event.

01ONE SOURCE OF DECISION TRUTH
02REALTIME ONLY WHERE IT MATTERS
03SECURITY ENFORCED BELOW THE UI
System, not feature soup

Less noise.
More closure.

The product interface is calm liquid minimalism. The operating model is uncompromising: every meaningful discussion should resolve into a decision, owner, deadline, or explicit rejection.

01

Ideas with evidence

Proposals keep the problem, rationale, counterarguments, votes, owner, and outcome attached.

02

Conversation with a destination

Realtime channels are connected to decisions and execution—not left as an infinite message archive.

03

A closed operating loop

Approved work moves into projects, tasks, milestones, and calendar commitments without losing context.

04

Security below the interface

RLS, MFA, role controls, audit trails, rate limits, CAPTCHA, and security monitoring enforce the boundary.

One record, complete context

The decision should survive the meeting.

Northstar keeps the problem, evidence, objections, final call, owner, deadline, and outcome connected. A new teammate can recover the logic without replaying weeks of chat.

Proposal NS-024Decision record

Reduce the approval cycle below 48 hours.

A complete operating object—not a detached poll, message thread, or task card.

Problem

Approvals are waiting across three disconnected tools.

Evidence

Median wait time is 4.2 days across the last 18 requests.

Counterpoint

Faster review must not remove compliance sign-off.

Decision

Pilot one accountable reviewer per request for 30 days.

01
Proposal

Frame the problem, impact, assumptions, and owner.

02
Challenge

Keep supporting evidence and counterarguments visible.

03
Decision

Record the final call, rationale, approver, and date.

04
Delivery

Convert the decision into milestones, tasks, and calendar commitments.

05
Outcome

Compare the promised impact with what actually happened.

The closed loop

Talk is not the output.

Northstar preserves context while work moves from uncertainty into commitment and delivery.

Operational intelligence

Measure closure, not activity.

Message count and meeting count are not outcomes. Northstar is structured around the signals that reveal whether a team is actually deciding and delivering.

01
Decision lead time

Time from proposal to explicit decision

Expose where reviews, votes, or ownership are slowing the team down.

02
Action conversion

Discussion converted into owned work

Measure whether conversations end in a task, project, event, or recorded rejection.

03
Execution health

Progress, blockers, and overdue commitments

See drift early instead of discovering it in the next status meeting.

04
Context recovery

One path back to why the work exists

Keep evidence, debate, decision, owner, and delivery attached to the same record.

Built for decision-heavy teams

Different teams. Same failure mode.

The surface changes. The underlying problem does not: discussion, approval, planning, and delivery are separated across tools.

01
Product & engineering

Move from feedback to a committed roadmap.

Collect proposals, challenge assumptions, record trade-offs, and convert approved work into projects without losing the original evidence.

02
Operations & leadership

Replace recurring status archaeology.

Give leaders one operating view for decisions, ownership, delivery health, calendar commitments, and unresolved blockers.

03
Committees & communities

Make participation visible and accountable.

Run structured discussion, voting, event planning, and progress tracking for clubs, councils, programs, and distributed teams.

Security model

Secure by enforcement, not adjectives.

Northstar does not call ordinary server-readable chat “E2E encrypted.” It documents the real boundary and enforces protection at the browser, application, authentication, and database layers.

02TOTP multi-factor authentication

Questions before rollout

Know the boundary.

Clear product limits create more trust than vague claims about realtime, security, or automation.

No. Chat is an input layer. The product is designed to turn discussion into a proposal, decision, task, project, event, or explicit rejection.

No. Only latency-sensitive surfaces—such as the active chat channel and personal notifications—stay realtime. Other data uses bounded queries, caching, and explicit revalidation.

The intended boundary is enforced with workspace-scoped PostgreSQL Row Level Security, membership checks, and role-based write policies—not only hidden buttons.

No false claim is made. Standard channels remain server-readable for search, moderation, audit context, and notifications. A separate secure-channel design is required for real E2EE.
